Under the direct supervision of the Chief Emergency in Kinshasa, you as the Cholera Programme Specialist coordinates the preparation and response to cholera outbreaks in the national territory of the DRC and more broadly supports the direct implementation of the emergency cholera program for community responses to cholera (Case Area Targeted Interventions – CATI) at national level you are directly responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of emergency interventions related to cholera outbreaks and risks, to ensure the survival and well-being of children and mothers and affected communities. You will provide coordination and support for policy and program planning and management of the UNICEF supported cholera program in support of the Government of DRC. Oversee the activities of the internal UNICEF cholera task force and the cholera technical groups within the clusters. Thanks to your technical guidance and coordination, UNICEF’s emergency cholera response is delivered in a proper, coordinated, cost-efficient and adequate manner.

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: A Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in one of the following fields: public health, WASH, humanitarian an assistance or other related disciplines. Preferably a combination of public health and emergency management.
  • Work Experience:Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience at international levels in emergency programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration. At least 6 years of experience in managing public health emergency programmes/projects and emergency teams and emergencies in several contexts (displacements, disaster management, others.).
  • Skills: Experience in rapid response cholera programs, especially CATI Is required. Experience in Humanitarian, Programme Management, Partnership Management, UN systems, Emergency are also required for this position.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in French oral and written and working knowledge of English

Desirables:

  • Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Experience in Donor reporting, Fundraising, Public Health Expertise are considered as an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian context is an asset.
